Pageant to be held to benefit scholarship fund

The Miss Bryant Spring Queen Beauty Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 25. Born out of a desire to raise money for scholarships for Bryant seniors to further their education, the pageant will be held at Love Auditorium. It is the brainchild of Todd Sellers, principal of Bethel Middle School School and chairman of the Bryant Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee.

Sellers is a self-professed “pageant dad.”

Presented by Landers Dodge Chrysler Jeep, the pageant is a first that the Chamber hopes to make an annual event. Residency requirements do not apply. Entrants do not have to live in Bryant to participate. Crowns, trophies and sashes are provided for the winners in each age division from 4 to 19 years of age.

“We have already had calls on people wanting to register younger contestants, noted Rae Ann Fields, Bryant Chamber Director. “We will try to expand the age range as we grow the pageant.”

Little Miss is 4 to 6 years; Petite Miss is 7 to 9 years; Pre-Teen Miss is 10 to 12 years; Teen Miss is 13-15 years and Miss is 16 to 19 years.

All participants will receive a trophy. Optional award winners, including categories are prettiest eyes, prettiest hair, prettiest smile and most photogenic, will also receive a trophy.

The contest will include a crowd favorite award, selected by the audience. The crowd favorite winner receives a trophy and a large crown (donated by Baker’s Fine Jewelry).

All other winners (2nd Alternate, 1st Alternate, Division Queen, Division Grand Supreme, and Ultimate Grand Supreme) receive a crown, trophy and sash.

Pageant entry is $55; Division Grand Supreme is an additional $25. The optional awards are $10 each. An “early bird” entry (due by March 20) covers pageant/beauty and all four optional categories for $75. Final deadline for entry is April 10. No entries accepted pageant day.

Contestants may pay online by accessing the pageant invitation through the Bryant Area Chamber of Commerce website at www.bryantchamber.com and clicking the calendar and the April 25 event posting. The full rules are accessible on the website under News and Events and Bryant Spring Queen Beauty Pageant.

Attendees who are not pageant entrants and their (one only) adult sponsor can attend the pageant with admission of $5 per person or an immediate family fee of $20 for all in the family.

Pageant check-in time is 9 a.m., at the rear entrance of Love Auditorium. Pageant begins at 10 a.m.

Judges will be adult pageant titleholders.
