White rallies past Blue in seventh grade girls game

After the Bryant Blue Lady Hornets seventh grade team of Bethel Middle School broke out to an 8-2 lead in the first quarter, the Bryant White Lady Hornets of Bryant Middle School held them to just 1 point the rest of the game as they rallied for a 13-9 win on Monday night at the Bethel gym.

Meagan Chism and Imanii Jones each had 4 points to lead White while Rachel Studdard paced Blue with 4.

“Our girls played really good half-court man defense,” noted Bryant Blue coach Rhonda Hall. “But we just couldn’t put the ball in the basket.”

Bethel still held an 8-6 lead at the half but, by the end of the third quarter, Bryant White had inched ahead 9-8.

Kalia Walker scored 3 points and Allie Dugan 2 for White. Mary Catherine Selig finished with 3 and Megan Lee 2 for Blue.

Both teams are now 2-2 overall. White plays again on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at home against Lighthouse Charter of Jacksonville. Blue will play next that night as well, traveling to Cabot North.
