PINE BLUFF — The Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade basketball team of Bryant Middle School couldn’t manage a point in the first quarter of their opening game at Watson Chapel Thursday night. But their defense kept the Lady Wildcats from doing much either so when Bryant got it going, they left the Chapel girls behind on the way to a 15-8 win.
Watson Chapel led just 3-0 at the end of the first quarter but, by halftime, Bryant White had surged to a 6-5 advantage. The Lady Hornets then dominated the third quarter, building their advantage to 15-5.
Meagan Chism led the scoring with 8 points. Kalia Walker added 3 with Allie Dugan and Lexi Helton pitching in with 2 apiece.
The Lady Hornets will be back in action on Monday in a tournament in North Little Rock.
