6.23GirlsQuartetBarracudas, Saline County swim team, hosted the Maumelle Marlins and the Lonoke Sharkrockets in their first home meet of the season at Bishop Park Aquatic Center on Saturday, June 21.

It was the third meet on the Central Arkansas Swim League (CASL) summer program where approximately 275 swimmers participated. The CASL summer program lasts from May to July for any swimmer aged 4-18 that are able to swim. Other Central Arkansas swim teams are Sherwood, Cabot, Conway, Lakewood and Otter Creek.

The Barracudas had a strong showing on Saturday in all age groups with a lot of personal best times. While all swimmers want to take first, the main focus is that they improve their time each time that they swim. Swimming is as much of an individual sport as a team sport.

In the 8 and under relays, Logan Crane, Lucy Crane, Emily Martin and Kelsie Nelson took first place for the Barracudas.

“Christian Rosinbaum and Christian Huthmaker celebrate a great competitive race against each other,” said Angela Douglas, a spokesperson for the team. “Rosinbaum and his family were so excited when they realized he contributed 18 points to the team’s score on Saturday. This excitement is what the summer program is all about.

The Barracudas will travel to Lakewood next weekend before taking a weekend off for the Fourth of July holiday.
