The Bryant High School track and field team will have entries in nine events at the annual Meet of Champs on Saturday at Russellville High School.

Senior State champion Haley Hood will try to add a Meet of Champs title in the 300-meter hurdles. She’ll also compete with teammate Deborah Shaw in the 100-meter hurdles. Shaw, who spent most of the year leading the Bryant freshman team, narrowly missed an individual championship in the event at the Class 7A meet last week.

In addition, junior Jadyn Lewis will compete in four events, three sprint races (100, 200, 400) plus the long jump.

For the boys, John Carder and Chris Barrientos will compete in the 3200-meter run with Landon Abernathy among the contenders in the 300-meter hurdles.

In addition, Bryant will have relay teams vying for honors in all three girls races and one of the boys races.

In the boys 4×400, it will be Abernathy, Diante Woodson, Malik Dockery and Matthew Bagby teaming up.

For the girls, the quartet of Amanda Burt, Daelyn Young, Zeia Robinson and Ty Foote will compete in the 4×100. Burt, Hood, Robinson and Lewis will run in the 4×400. In the 4×800, it’ll be Megan Lee, Zhania Hall, Maggie Laws and Hannah Shelby.
