Bryant Blue eases to 44-14 win in seventh grade game

HOT SPRINGS —Quarterback Logan Chambers hit 8 of 9 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns as the Bryant Blue Hornets seventh grade team of Bethel Middle School buried their counterparts from Hot Springs Lakeside, 44-14, on Tuesday night.

Randy Thomas caught five of Chambers’ throws for 155 yards and two of the scores. Tyler O’Neal ran for a touchdown and caught a TD pass.

The Hornets’ scoring began with an 85-yard throw, catch and run from Chambers to Thomas. A two-point attempt failed.

O’Neal added to the total with his 14-yard run for a score. Thomas ran in the two-point conversion to make it 14-0.

Chambers and Thomas hooked up again for a 38-yard TD. With the conversion, it upped the margin to 22-0.

Chambers’ third TD strike went to O’Neal from 25 yards out. The duo combined on the conversion as well.

Lakeside scored all its points in the second half while the Hornets matched the Rams. Cody Conrad answered the first score with a 45-yard touchdown run. He added a run for two to make it 38-6.

Josh Robinson provided the capper when he got a pick-six, intercepting a pass and returning it 30-yards to paydirt.

Lakeside added a TD before time ran out.

Every player got in the game for Bethel.

The seventh grade B team is set to play Bryant White on Oct. 7. The seventh grade A team wraps up its second on Tuesday, Oct. 15, against Bryant White.
