Bryant Blue seventh grade boys turn in ‘best game yet’

LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant Blue Hornets seventh grade team held host Little Rock Episcopal to just 4 points in the final period to extract a 31-28 win at the Wildcat Classic Thursday. Jordan Gentry hit[more] a 3-pointer with :30 left to provide the winning margin.

The team, now 3-1, includes Logan Allen, Gunnar Burks, Blake Carnahan, Drew Carnahan, Drew Castleberry, Daniel Darbonne, Tanner Ezell, Alex Falco, Nic Feeko, Lawson Fincher, Jordan Gentry, Nic Hardin, Devin Howard, Aaron Orender, Jacob Pipken, Grayson Ruple and Ethan Southard.

“We played our best game yet,” declared head coach Derek McGrew. “This team is getting better. Our size advantage helped us get the win.”

The game was tied 6-6 after a quarter before Bryant Blue pushed out to a 17-11 lead by halftime. But the Wildcats rallied to pull even at 24 going into the final period.

Pipken paced the effort with 10 points. Gentry and Howard added 8 each. Allen picked up 3 with Ezell and Burks adding a point apiece.

The team returns to the Classic tonight at 7 against Lisa Academy of Little Rock.
