On the heels of the Bryant 6-year-old All-Stars run to the championship round of the Cal Ripken Southwest Regional[more] Tournament at Bishop Park last weekend, eight more teams from Bryant will begin play in their respective age-group Cal Ripken regional tournaments this weekend.
Three teams will be competing in the 7 and 8 year old Southwest Regional in Madisonville, La. The Bryant 9’s are in Hattiesburg, Miss., while the 10’s are headed to Levelland, Texas. The 11’s are in Hurley, Miss.
The Bryant 12-year-old team that plays on the 46/60 field will start play in the Regional being held in Benton, while the 12-year-old team that plays on the 57/70 field competed in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Bryant has also had two Babe Ruth teams earn their way to Regional play, which begins July 29. The Bryant 14’s will be in Lake Jackson, Texas. The 15’s will be competing in the Regional in Plainview, Texas.
There are World Series tournaments for 12-year-old teams up to 15’s.
This Friday, pool play at the 7 and 8 year old Regional will commence with pool play. Bryant’s 8U team, coached by Greg Riggs, will open at noon against Plaquemine, La. The team will play again on Saturday against Kenner, La., at 10 a.m., then against Donaldsonville, La., at 4 p.m.
Bryant 8-year-old team, coached by Matt Orender, will engage in pool play against the Madisonville, La., Diamondbacks on Friday at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the team will return to action at noon against the Madisonville, La., Legends before wrapping up pool play against Abbeville, La., at 6 p.m.
Orender’s team won the State Tournament championship while Riggs’ team finished in the final four.
The 7-year-old tournament will be held concurrently with the 8’s but those teams will be competing against other 7-year-old teams and not the 8’s. That bodes will for Jason Greiner’s team from Bryant, which competed in the 8-year-old State Tournament and was the last team of 7’s standing.
The Bryant 7’s open Friday at 6 p.m., against Zachary, La. On Saturday, they play the Madisonville, La., Mudcats at 10 a.m., and Plaquemine, La., at 4 p.m.
Bracket play for both groups will begin on Sunday with bracket play determining seeding.
In Hattiesburg, Miss., pool play begins for Bryant at 11 a.m., on Friday when the State champion All-Stars, coached by Clint Hilson take on George County, Miss. They return at 5 p.m., to play Springdale. On Saturday, Bryant plays Bentonville at 1 p.m. and Oak Grove, Miss., at 7 p.m.
A single-elimination tournament will determine the Regional champion, beginning Sunday.
At the 10-year-old Regional, bracket play begins right off with Bryant, coached by Michael Catton, opening against Andrews, Texas, at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. It is a double-elimination format.
In Hurley, Miss., pool play will also be involved for the 11’s. Bryant’s team, coached by Jonathan Wright, will open play as one of 12 teams at 4 p.m. on Friday against the host East Central team. On Saturday, Bryant will take on their rivals from Benton at 8 a.m. then play Madisonville, La., at 11.
The double-elimination bracket play begins Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Southwest Regional in Benton for 12’s (46/60) commences on Friday with Bryant, coached by Rob Roedel, facing Littlefield, Texas, at 2:30 p.m. The tournament is double-elimination as well.
The Bryant 12-year-old team (57/70), coached by Darren Hurt, begins play in the double-elimination tourney format, on Friday at 11 a.m. Bryant, the Arkansas champion, plays Cotulla, La., initially.
The Bryant 7-year-old team includes Evan Barrrett, Luke Dreher, Caleb Greiner, Drew Hatman, Kason Highfill, Connor Martin, Logan McDonald, Colby Morrow, Cade Parker, Turner Seelinger, Hayden Thompson and Logan White. Greiner is assisted by Ryan Martin and Kevin McDonald.
Team members for the 8-year-old team include Luke Bessire, Dakota Clay, Cooper Davis, Noah Davis, Peyton Dillon, Will Hathcote, Jagger Littleton, Justin Orender, Brett Pennington, Austin Schroeder, Lawson Speer, Josh Turner and Garret Wilson. Orender gets assistance from Patrick Schroeder and Paul Speer.
The 8U team includes Kannon Allison, Tyler Bates, Clay Curtis, Tyler Edmonson, Cole Ferguson, Easton Dinwiddie, Christian Knight, Cameron McDonald, Cooper Kinzler, Ryan Riggs, Blaine Sears and Cole Somer. Riggs’ assistants are Scott Allison and Scott Curtis.
Bryant’s 9-year-old All-Stars include Cade Drennan, Jonathan Hall, Hayden Hilson, Rhett James, Colton Kilgore, Tyler LaRue, Braydan Lester, Jake Meaders, Trey McKim, Riley Morales, Shane Small and Gage Stark. Hilson is assisted by Mike Meadors and Bill Drennan.
The 10-year-old team includes Brock Barriola, Logan Catton, Logan Chambers, Connor Clontz, Jacob Coppock, Cade Dupree, Logan Grant, Coby Greiner, Ty Jackson, Ryan Lessenberry, Will McEntire, Hunter Mullings, Nathan McFarland and Jacob Sheppard. Phillip Dupree and Madison McEntire are Catton’s assistants.
The Bryant 11-year-old team includes Myers Buck, Luke Curtis, Caleb Dorsey, Brooks Ellis, Joe Green, Christian Harp, Brandon Hoover, Zach Kemp, Dylan Lawhon, Blake Pennington, Grayson Prince, Cameron Vail and Cooper Wright. Wright’s assistants are Jimmy Pennington and Tyler Brown.
The 46/60 team include Landon Abernathy, Ethan Cozzens, Dylan Davis, Lawson Fincher, Austin Hooper, Audrey Horn, Jared Morales, Jake Roedel, Kyle Sahr, Joseph Small, Logan Valestin and Diego Vargas. Roedel’s assistants are Keith Horn and Brian Hooper.
For the 50/70 12’s, members include Logan Allen, Beaux Bonvillian, Drew Brown, Cameron Coleman, Jake East, Jeffery Hastings, Dylan Hurt, D.J. McKinney, Austin Kelly, Hayden Knowles, Preston Kyzer, Garrett Misenheimer, Aaron Orender, Matthew Sandidge and Scott Schmidt. Hurt is assisted by Rick Brown and Randy Kelly.
