Bryant girls shine at two meets

CONWAY — The Bryant Lady Hornets split their squad Thursday and sent part of the team to the Conway Wampus Cat Relays and part to the Benton Panther Relays.

4.10GirlsRunnerJMThe team that competed at Benton finished runner-up with a score of 100. Little Rock Parkview won the team title with 117 in the field of nine teams.

At Conway, the seven girls that competed led the Lady Hornets to a fourth-place team finish with 75 points. Conway won the team title with 133 points in the field of 10 teams.

“I was extremely proud of the group of girls that competed at Benton,” said Lady Hornets Danny Westbrook. “We had some people that have not been able to compete much in meets that really stepped up and did well.

“The seven girls that competed at Conway really had some outstanding performances,” he added. “Melinda Murdock ran a great mile and is only three seconds off our school record. Rachel Owens and Talyn Billins both had great meets, and our 4×400-meter relay currently has the top time in the state.”
