CONWAY — Mitch Scoggins poured in 21 points and Greyson Giles 15 to lead the Bryant White Hornets eighth grade basketball team of Bryant Middle School to a 46-39 win over Conway Blue on Monday night.
The Hornets built a 17-8 lead in the first quarter and held a 25-19 edge at the half but Conway rallied and led 31-30 going into the fourth quarter. Bryant surged at the end to extract the victory.[more]
“I have to give credit to Conway Blue,” said Bryant White coach Heath Long. “We got up early but they didn’t give up and fourth their way back into the game. It would have been easy for us to panic but our guys did a good job of staying in the game.
“I also liked the fact that we were being aggressive to the basket and drawing fouls,” he added.
The Hornets were set travel to Bethel Middle School in Bryant tonight to take on Bryant Blue.
