Bryant White rallies for win at Conway White

CONWAY — After absorbing a loss in the first set of their match against the Conway White Lady Cats on Thursday, the Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School rallied to win the match, 15-25, 27-25, 15-11.

Celena Martin had six kills, Mekeycia Baker added five blocks to lead the way. Lylah Washington got in 13 of her 14 serves with Lexi Brown good on 9 of 12.

“We struggled early in the first set but were able to stay focused and pushed through the second set,” noted Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward. “We had momentum going into the third set and finished strong.”

In their three season-opening matches, the Lady Hornets had started strong but struggled at the end, something Ward has had the team work on since. Thursday’s win was their second in row.

They are set to return to action tonight against Benton then play at Cabot White on Thursday.
