Bryant’s Bagby signs to run for Missouri Baptist

Recently graduated Bryant Hornet sprinter Matthew Bagby has signed to run track at Missouri Baptist University, an NAIA school in St. Louis, Mo.

Bagby was a key part of the 2016 Hornet track team, earning runner-up honors in the 400-meter dash in a personal record time of 50.70. He was also a member of the Hornet conference championship 4×400-meter relay team. Bagby concluded his Hornet career with a 41st-place finish in the state decathlon.

“I’m very happy for Matthew,” said Bryant coach Steve Oury. “He knew that he would need to step up during his senior year since we lost so many talented runners to graduation the year before. He was determined to contend at the conference and state levels, and also to have an opportunity to run track at the college level. His hard work and dedication paid off. He set a great example of what hard work can do for our younger athletes.”

Bagby plans to major in Kinesiology and Sports Management at Missouri Baptist. Although he ran cross country at Bryant, he will specialize in sprinting at the college level.
