Cabot Red slips past freshman Lady Hornets in final set

CABOT — After trading wins with the Cabot Red Lady Panthers in the first two games of their match at Cabot South Junior High on Monday, the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman volleyball team just could not get anything going in the third and deciding set and absorbed a 16-25, 25-20, 6-15 setback.

Bryant plays at Conway White on Thursday.

In Cabot Red, the Lady Hornets ran into a team that was very effective on serve-receive. Bryant was only able to manage one ace, served up by Meagan Chism. Lindsey Maxwell got in all 10 of her serves. Becca Wertenberger was good on all sever of her serves while Madi Draper was 7 of 9 and Cassie Ray was 5 of 6.

Kristin Boyle and Faith Stone each had three kills for Bryant. Chism and Imanii Jones added two apiece with Jenna Vos one. In addition, Stone had a block.

Defensively, Chism had 12 digs and Ray had eight. Stone finished with six dig and Shannon Stewart three.
