CADC to offer tax return help at Bryant Senior Activity Center

Central Arkansas Development Council is offering a free tax return preparation day, Thursday, Feb. 24, from[more] 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at CADC Bryant Senior Activity Center, 6401 Boone Road, #3. Walk-ins will be accepted. Appointments can be made by calling 501-778-1133.

You can receive free tax assistance and electronic filing, and determine if you qualify for the additional Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) of up to $5,657. Volunteer certified tax assistance experts will help taxpayers complete and file their tax returns, getting all of the refund they are due – all at no charge and in a comfortable, private setting.

The CADC EITC/Free Tax Service provides federal 1040 and state return filing. Most people will receive their federal refund within 10 days. State returns come back faster.

Persons utilizing the sites should bring their family's Social Security Cards, picture ID, W-2/1099s, a copy of last year's return, bank account information for direct deposit or splitting a refund to several accounts, and any other pertinent information.

Persons can save part of their refund on a US Savings Bond. Electronic filing and a direct deposit account will see refund in 7-10 days – free of charge. If it is determined that you owe additional taxes instead of a refund, it is not due on this day – not until April 18, 2011. Assistance with extensions and installment plans can also be provided on your behalf.
