Candidates set for county-wide elections

The period to file to run for county-wide positions the 2012 election ended March 1. The following candidates are[more] listed to run for office in Saline County:

Lanny Fite, R, of Benton, will run for county judge.

Rodney Goshien, D, of Mabelvale; James Ward, R, of Alexander; and Bruce Pennington, R, of Benton; will run for sheriff.

Kime Eubanks, R, of Benton, and Doug Curtis, R, of Benton, will run for county clerk.

Don White, R, of Benton; James Terry Steed, D, of Bryant; and Jim Crawford, D, of Benton, will run for county assessor.

Joy Ballard, R, of Benton; Kent Ramsey, R, of Benton; and Georgine McKim, D, of Benton, will run for county collector.

Myka Bono Sample, R, of Benton, and Dennis Milligan, R, of Benton, are running for circuit clerk.

Sandra McPherson, D, of Benton, and Larry C. Davis, R, of Benton, are running for county treasurer.

Aaron Rasburry, R, of Lonsdale, will run for county surveyor.

Will Bearden, D, of Benton, will run for county coroner.

Those running for justice of the peace positions in Bryant are Mark Kizer, R, and Allan Dabbs, R.Gordan Hall, R, is running for constable in Bryant.

Sample ballots will soon be available at www.salinecounty.org, and the election proclamation will be posted April 15, according to the website.

Early voting will take place at First Pentecostal Church, 4200 Highway 5 North.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, May 7-Friday, May 11, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Saturday, May 12, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Monday, May 14-Friday, May 18, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Saturday, May 19 10 a.m-4 p.m.

Candidates will begin filing for city official positions in July.
