The Bryant Hornets managed to get in position for 14 shot attempts but unfortunately none of them reached their intended destination as the Little Rock Catholic Rockets managed a 3-0 win on Monday night at Bryant Stadium.

In a junior varsity match, Bryant won 3-0.

The Hornets’ varsity team is now 7-7-1 overall, 3-3 in the 7A/6A-Central Conference and 1-3 in league games against 7A teams. (Only conference games against 7A schools count toward Bryant’s bid to reach the State Tournament.) The Hornets are scheduled to host 6A Russellville tonight before concluding their 7A league slate at Conway on Friday then at home against Van Buren on May 5.

“The kids played hard but it just wasn’t our night,” said Bryant assistant coach Clint Shadwick. “Catholic scored on three throw-ins.”

In the JV match, Johny Nevares scored two goals and Alex Ibarra had the third for the Hornets.

“Catholic never had a good chance to score,” said Shadwick. “They had one shot on goal that was saved by Adolfo Martinez.

“This was the best game we have played so far this year,” the coach added.
