Fall Fest parade going green in 2011

Everyone is invited to join in the Go Green Fall Fest Parade, Saturday, Sept. 24 at[more] 8:45 a.m. (line up at 8:15 a.m.) The parade is just the beginning of a fun filled day! There is no cost to enter and prizes are awarded in three categories: churches, schools, and businesses.

A prize of $50 for first and $25 for second place will be given for each category. In addition, each of the groups/participants will go home with a trophy for the best in their category.

New this year is the “go green” theme. Bicycles, wagons, skateboards, electric vehicles, walkers, etc. are welcome. No gas powered vehicles this year. The course is greatly shortened to accommodate walkers; only three-tenths of a mile.

In order to qualify for the prizes, the parade committee asks that entrants register by either calling the Bryant Area Chamber of Commerce at 847-4702 or by completing the registration form by Sept. 13. The form can be found online at www.bryant-ar.com, (click events and Fall Fest).

“Be creative,” urged Rae Ann Fields, executive director of the Bryant Chamber of Commerce. “Groups can be dressed to a theme or have your conveyances decorated to a theme (anything that ties to ‘go green’ or efficiency or sustainability). You can use flags, crepe paper, or go all out with balloons, signs, costumes, etc. The only limit is your imagination. Get your friends involved.”

The parade will be completely inside Bishop Park. Parade route and lineup will be sent to all early registrants.

Those not pre-registered will be placed in the order of arrival at the end of the parade (behind the horses).
