Former Marine files as candidate for Ward 1, Position 2 on City Council

For eight years, Alan Kays served in the United States Marine Corps and is a natural born leader.

"I love my family, community and city and to me, there is no greater opportunity than to serve them," Kays said. "I am conservative by nature, but after talking to friends and neighbors, I don't know if their concerns are being heard and I want to represent them."

Kays filed to run for Ward 1, Position 2 against incumbant alderman Danny Steele.

"I think that all forms of government should be accountable," Kays said. "They should be transparent and held to the standards of the taxpayers."[more]

Kays’ resume includes 20 years of experience in the construction industry. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in construction engineering technology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He served in the Marines from 1987 to 1993 in the India Company 3rd Battalion, the 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. Kays served with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm during the Gulf War in 1990-91. He received 10 service decorations, including Combat Action, Sea Service Deployment and Southwest Asia Campaign Service.

"I enjoy helping people and I want to have a say in how things are done in the city of Bryant," Kays said.

Kays, 41, has been married to Heather for 16 years and they have four children. He has most recently served Bryant on the city water/waste water committee for Ward 1.
