Freshman girls finish second in a pair of meets

In a pair of track meets in Hot Springs over the last two weeks, the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team has battled Lake Hamilton for top team honors but has come up short in both instances.

On March 31, the Lady Hornets compiled 99 points in a seven-team meet at Lakeside, second only to Lake Hamilton’s 199. Benton and White Hall tied for third with 76 points.

On April 7, Bryant accumulated 96 points, again second only to Lake Hamilton with 200. Hot Springs, which hosted the event, was third with 84.

At Lakeside, the Lady Hornets were led by Kaycee White, who took second in the shot with a toss of 33’1.75” and second in the discus with a throw of 79’3”. In addition, Kaylin Watts was second in the long jump, covering 13’10.5”. The Bryant 4×400-meter relay team also garnered second-place points with a 4:53.78 clocking.

Third-place performances were turned in by Taylor McKinney in the discus with a throw of 78’4”; Amanda Burt in the 200 meters with a time of 29.71; Lauren Hart in the 1600 with a time of 6:30.09; and the 4×800 relay team, which clocked in at 12:02.97.

Zeia Robinson was fourth in two events. In the 100, she ran a 14.53. In the 200, she finished in 29.74. Alyssa Rowland was fourth in the pole vault, clearing 6’1” and Amber Edwards was fourth in the triple jump, covering 27’7.5”. In addition, the 4×100 relay team ran a 57.46 to finish fourth.

Watts finished right behind Edwards in the triple jump, earning fifth place at 26’10.5”. Emma Kinder was fifth in the 400-meters, turning in a 1:13.02 with teammate Camari Dodds right behind her in sixth at 1:14.70.

Carissa Colclasure was sixth in the 1600 with a time of 7:05.87. McKinney added a seventh-place finish in the shot with a throw of 29’6.5” while Edwards was eighth in the long jump at 13’0” and Flora Noble was ninth in the 800 with a time of 3:09.13.

At the Hot Springs meet, the Lady Hornets’ 4×800 relay team won in 11:46.78 to highlight the day. White added another second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 80’4”. She was third in the shot at 34’3.5”.

Hart added a second-place finish in the 1600, turning in a 6:35.64 with Colclasure fourth in 6:50.40.

Alyssa Rowland was third in the pole vault, clearing 6’6”. In the 800, Noble turned in a 2:42.79 to place third. Camryn Bolton was sixth in 3:05.25.

Kinder was fourth and Dodds fifth in the 400. Kinder ran a 1:12.07 and Dodds finished in 1:12.76. Burt was fourth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.35.

In the triple jump, Edwards was fourth at 29’1.25” and Watts fifth at 29’0.5”.

In the sprints, Robinson was fourth in the 100 (13.98) and fifth in the 200 (29.15).

Edwards covered 12’0” to finish seventh in the long jump with Watts eighth at 11’9.5”.

The Lady Hornets were fourth in the 4×400 relay (4:53.27) and fifth in the 4×100 (56.91).

Bryant returns to competition on Thursday, April 16, at Conway.
