Freshman girls fourth, Bethel ninth at Junior Hornet Invitational

Jadyn Lewis won the long jump and contributed a leg to the winning 4×100 relay to lead the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team to a fourth-place finish in the 16-team Junior Hornets Invitational track and field meet on Tuesday.

The meet was also highlighted by a winning effort from Bethel Middle School’s Sarah Evans in the discus with a throw of 81’7”.

Lake Hamilton won the meet with 120 points. North Little Rock was second with 83 and Conway Blue third with 82. Bryant accumulated 74 points to finish ahead of fifth-place Cabot North (65). Bethel finished with 22 points, good for a ninth-place finish.

Lewis’ winning jump went 16’. In the 4×100, she joined Destiny Martin, Daelyn Young and Tiberia Foote in a 52.63 clocking.

Martin and Foote were also part of the 4×400 relay. With Sydney Wilson and Rachel Curtis they turned in a 4:37.82 to finish second.

Lewis scored in the 200, finishing third in 27.94 and the 100, taking fourth in 13.28. In the 400, Foote’s 1:06.62 was good for second-place points. She also picked up fourth-place points in the triple jump, covering 29’11”.

A throw of 32’5” by Serenity Bridges in the shot put garnered a second-place finish. She was eighth in the discus with a toss of 65’3”.

Bree Hood was fifth in the pole vault. She cleared 6’6”. She then joined Curtis, Sarah Sellers and Sydney Wilson on an 11:42.67 clocking in the 4×800, good for seventh-place points.

Bethel’s quartet of Danielle Singleton, Camryn Bolton, Lauren Hart and Carissa Colclasure was sixth in the 4×800 in a time of 11:34.48.

Curtis was sixth in the 1600 with a 6:07.24. She was eighth in the 800 at 2:44.25, right behind Wilson whose 2:43.49 was good for sixth.

Bethel’s Kaycee White was seventh in the shot with a fling of 30’7”. In the 4×400 relay, the Bethel quartet of Regan Ryan, Amanda Burt, Lauren Hart and Raija Todd was eighth in 4:48.01.

The Bryant freshmen will run again on Tuesday, April 1, at Hot Springs Lakeside

Bethel’s seventh grade team competes at Conway on Monday, March 31, with the eighth grader squad heading to Conway on April 3.

Bryant Middle School’s next competition is scheduled for March 26 at Conway.
