Freshmen, Bethel seventh grade girls play basketball tonight

The 2016-17 basketball season gets a preliminary start tonight when the Bryant freshman teams host Maumelle in a pre-season benefit game at 5:30 p.m., at the Bryant Middle School gym.

In addition, the Bryant Blue Lady Hornets seventh grade team of Bethel Middle School officially opens against Baptist Prep in the first round of a four-team tourney at The Anthony School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The tournament resumes on Wednesday and will be completed on Thursday.

The Bethel eighth grade girls play on Wednesday as well against the winner of tonight’s opener between Baptist Prep and Episcopal Collegiate.

On Tuesday, the entire basketball program will be on display at the annual Tip-off Night at the Bryant Middle School gym.

On Thursday, the season will officially get underway for the Bryant freshman teams when they travel to Searcy. The Bryant White Hornets eighth grade boys and girls teams will play at Searcy as well starting at 4 with the girls game. The Bryant Blue seventh and eighth grade boys teams commence too, hosting The Anthony School Panthers at the Bethel gym.

As for the high school teams, the Lady Hornets travel to Pine Bluff to open the season on Thursday, Nov. 17. Both boys and girls host a preseason benefit game on Saturday, Nov. 19, at noon. A trip to Greenbrier on Tuesday, Nov. 29, starts the season in earnest for the BHS teams.
