For the past three years, Jim Garland has been a community leader in Bryant.
Garland is currently serving on the Bryant Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and chairing the Local and Governmental Affairs committee in Bryant. He has been selected the vice-chairman on the Board of Directors of the Saline County Economic Development Corporation and is a graduate of session two in the Leadership Council of Saline County.[more]
He most recently filed to run for Bryant Alderman, Ward 2, Position 1, against two other contenders for the vacated spot of Ed Collins.
"I'm excited about this," Garland said. "Bryant is a great community and I welcome the opportunity to serve it. I realize there are some big issues facing Bryant like drainage problems. I want to work on that as well as try to instill a curbside recycling program. Bryant is considered in the top 100 cities in the nation by CNN and I'd like to see the city become involved in implementing a plan for recycling. Also, I see that traffic flow in the city is an issue and I'd like to continue to work and keep adjusting that to the satisfaction and production of the community."
Garland has been in the customer service industry for 26 years and knows how to listen to customers and resolve issues.
"I want to go along with the work in the city and listen to the constituents in my Ward," he said. "They have concerns and I want to be their voice on those issues."
