Fresh from exhilarating victories at Conway, the Bryant High School varsity basketball teams return[more] to action tonight at home against Cabot.
The Hornets, who overcame a 16-point deficit to beat the Wampus Cats 54-51, are in a three-way tie for third in the league at 2-2. Cabot’s Panthers, who won all nine of their non-conference games, are 1-3 after losing by 2 to Conway and by 3 to Little Rock Catholic to start the league slate. They appeared to get back on track Tuesday with a 62-51 win over Little Rock Central.
The Lady Hornets, who led most of the way at Conway despite the fact that the Lady Cats bombed in 10 of 30 three-point shots, won 68-60. Now 3-1, they are in a three-way tie for second in the league. One of those teams they are even with is the Cabot Lady Panthers, considered by many to be among the best teams in the state. Their long league loss was to perennial state power, first-place North Little Rock, 44-39, a week ago.
The varsity girls game will begin at 6 p.m., with the boys game starting around 7:30. Junior varsity games will be played at 5 p.m., with the girls at the high school gym and the boys at the Bryant Middle School gym.
