BEEBE — The Bryant Hornets used a complete team performance to add to their victory total for the season at the Beebe Badger Relays on Thursday. The Hornets scored in every event and amassed 162 points, which was 100 points ahead of runner-up Beebe (62 points). Twenty-nine teams scored in the meet, with Searcy (47), Batesville (43), and Rivercrest (36) rounding out the top five teams.

Hornet senior Darian Jarrett won the meet high-point award with 26.5 points. Jarrett took first place in the high jump (6-0), second place in the long jump (20-8), third place in the 200-meter dash (22.70), and was part of the winning 4×400 meter relay team with Steven Murdock, Austin Vail, and Pierce Finney. Their winning time was 3:28.87.

Also earning first-place honors for Bryant were Justin Combs in the pole vault (13-6); Mar’Kevius Nelson in the triple jump (42-9); Charlie Terry in the 1600 meter run (4:40.03), the 4×100 meter relay team of Nelson, Brushawn Hunter, Vail and Makiya Hunter (43.72); Brendan Young in the 300-meter hurdles (41.74); John Winn in the 200 meter dash (22.43); and Clifton Hampton in the 3200 meter run (10:19.78).

“This was a nice way to finish off the regular season,” stated Hornets coach Steve Oury. “While it would have been great to pick up some more State-qualifying performances, it’s hard to complain when you pick up points in every event.

“There were several personal records set and it was great to see Darian Jarrett get the high point award,” he added. “He has had an outstanding senior season.”
