League coaches pick Hornets second in South in new Hooten’s Arkansas Football

BENTON — The Bryant Hornets are voted by 7A/6A South coaches to finish second in the[more] league this year, while the Benton Panthers are voted to finish seventh in the 20th annual Hooten’s Arkansas Football magazine. The Bauxite Miners are voted to finish eighth in the 7-4A and Benton Harmony Grove is voted to finish fourth in the 5-3A.

The book retails for $17.99 and is on sale now locally at Kroger, Walgreens, Big Red Stores and Hastings.

The 440-page book, which takes five months to compile, offers the most comprehensive preseason football coverage in Arkansas. It features dual covers. Arkansas Razorback quarterback Tyler Wilson is featured on one cover, while Arkansas State coach Gus Malzahn and quarterback Ryan Aplin are on the other cover.

In addition to providing the state’s most extensive coverage of every high school team in the state, the book offers an in-depth preview on the Arkansas Razorbacks and coverage on each Southeastern Conference school. Arkansas State and every state college are previewed as well as all 124 Division I college teams in America.

The graphically enhanced book features coaches' polls for each high school conference, statewide rankings for every team, super teams for each classification, a national college poll and complete college and high school schedules.

LSU is tabbed to win the SEC West, followed by Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Ole Miss. Georgia is picked to win the SEC Eastern Division, followed by South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Missouri and Kentucky.

The LSU Tigers are Hooten’s preseason No. 1 team, followed by Southern Cal, Alabama, Oklahoma and Georgia.

Hooten's high school favorites to win it all in 2012 are Fayetteville in Class 7A, El Dorado in Class 6A, Pulaski Academy in Class 5A, Nashville in Class 4A, Glen Rose in Class 3A and Junction City in Class 2A.
