Neal’s second shutout lifts Bryant JV to win

Matt Neal pitched his second shutout in a row, allowing just one hit while striking out 12 in the Bryant Junior Varisty baseball team's 1-0 win over the Russellville JV on Tuesday night.

Neal walked two and only allowed a two-out single to Tyler Lawson in the third inning.[more]

The only run of the game was scored by Hayden Daniel, who led off the bottom of the first with a walk, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and, after Dylan Pritchett walked, scored on Landon Pickett's bouncer to third that was misplayed.

Cody Jones, the Russeville starter, pitched out of the two-on, no-out jam then gave way to Jordan Barrett in the second.

The Hornets only managed one hit themselves, a lead-off single by Josh Pultro in the fourth.

Neal walked Jesse Duvall to start the game. Duvall stole second and reached third on an errant pickoff throw. But he was stranded when Neal fanned the next three. The only other Russellville baserunner was Michael Newton who walked to lead off the fourth then stole second.

Bryant threatened in the second when Evan Jobe and Daniel drew walks but Barrett escaped with it still 1-0.
