The Bryant School District is pleased to announce that a contract for Superintendent of Bryant School District has been offered to Randy Rutherford.

Rutherford is currently the high school Principal at Bryant School District, where he has served since 2007. Before coming to Bryant, he worked as the Athletic Director for Benton Public Schools. Prior to moving to Saline County, Rutherford also held several coaching, Assistant Principal, and Principal positions in the Little Rock School District.[more]

The Board and seven focus groups interviewed five finalists for the position during the week of March 15th. Board President, Rhonda Sanders, made the announcement after a special meeting of the School Board late Friday, March 19th.

Rutherford will assume the duties of superintendent on July 1, 2010. He will replace Dr. Richard Abernathy, who has served as the district's Superintendent for the last seven years. Abernathy recently accepted the Executive Director position of the Arkansas Association of Education Administrators, formerly held by Arkansas Education Commission, Tom Kimbrell.

McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. served as consultants in the search process and will continue working with the Bryant Board of Education and the new superintendent during the 2010-2011 school year.
