Salem students raise funds for Heart Association

Salem Elementary Principal Mark Scarlett gets an egg shampoo from the students during the Jump Rope for Heart Assembly.The students at Salem Elementary School raised $5,537.75 for the American Heart Association through a program called Jump Rope for Heart.

All students who raised $100 or more were allowed to crack an egg over the head of Principal Mark

Rhonda Rolston’s second grade class raised the most of any class in the school with $689. Peggy Young’s first grade class wasn’t far off the pace, collecting $688.The students in those classes earned a Subway party.

The top individual student was Kyle Beaty, a fifth-grade student in Lynnie Dragland’s class. He collected $445, earning a gift basket. He also got to be Coach Peggy Sue Bryant for a day.
