Led by a 28-point performance from Randy Thomas, the Bryant Blue Hornets eighth grade team of Bethel Middle School surged past the Lighthouse Charter Wolves of Jacksonville on Monday night, 56-45.
It was the final home game for the Bethel team, which concludes its season on Thursday at Cabot South.
“It was an up-and-down, fast-paced game,” noted Hornets coach Dominic Lincoln. “I’m really proud of how these guys are playing basketball right now, with a sense of urgency and toughness.
“The game was tight all night,” he added. “We pulled away late.”
Josh Robertson added 9 points, Alex Blair 8 and Tyler O’Neal 7. Chris Fuller pitched in with 4.
The improved the Hornets to 9-7 on the season.
