Bass fishing league including Bryant’s Suggs to compete at Lake Ouachita

MOUNT IDA, Ark. (May 4, 2011) – The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Ouachita May 14 for the third of five stops in the Arkie Division. As many as 400 boaters and[more] co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.

“Right now the water’s 10 ½ feet above normal,” said Folgers pro Scott Suggs of Bryant, Ark. “It all depends on what the (U.S. Corps of Engineers) does with the water level. The spawn is totally over, but the fish have all this water pushed on them.

“I think it will be won in the bushes,” Suggs added. “Guys can use a wacky worm, a Senko or topwater baits, and some guys will catch them on a frog. It’s just going to be a variety of things.”

Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Mountain Harbor Marina located at 34 Marina Drive in Mount Ida, Ark.

Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Lake Ouachita BFL tournament is being hosted by the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
