Lee to be recommended as Farmer’s successor

You can take the "reportedly" out of the reports — Mike Lee, head football coach for the Van Buren Pointers for the last three seasons, will be[more] recommended by current Bryant athletic director Tom Farmer, to become the school district's new A.D., when the Bryant Board of Education meets tonight in executive session.

Because of the board's respect and trust in Farmer, who was in the unique position of finding his own replacement, expect the board to endorse the hiring of Lee, who is originally from North Little Rock. In his three seasons as the Pointers' head coach, Lee's teams have gone 10-22-1 but, last year, improved to 7-5 and made a run in the Class 6A playoffs. Lee was an assistant coach at Harrison, Morrilton and Van Buren before taking over as the Pointers head coach.

Coach Farmer has been a double-duty guy since coming to Bryant and taking over as head football coach and A.D. After relinquishing his duties as head coach, he continued as athletic director and has also served as transportation director, a role he will continue. He'll also begin work with Bryant maintenance supervisor Bob Padgett.
