Bryant Legion team opens play in Mountain Home tourney

MOUNTAIN HOME — The Bryant Black Sox Senior American Legion team will begin play in the annual Twin Lakes Classic in Mountain Home on Wednesday.

The tournament, which awards a huge trophy, features teams from Arkansas, Missouri and Mississippi.[more]

The Sox come into the game with a 7-5 record but on a three-game win streak.

Bryant will open pool play against a team from Eureka, Mo., on Wednesday at 4 p.m. On Thursday, the Sox take on Searcy before tackling Creve Coeur, Mo., from the St. Louis area.

Other teams in the tournament include Benton McClendon’s, Batesville, Harrison, Rogers and Mountain Home from Arkansas plus Pontotoc, Miss., and Missouri teams from DeSoto, Dunklin County, Miller and West Plains.

The winners and runners-up from each of the four pools will advance to a single-elimination championship tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
