The Bryant Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested John Arthur Hewitt, a 49-year-old white male, of Bryant for Rape and Sexual Indecency with a Child.

The investigation started approximately two weeks ago after investigators received a tip of Hewitt having inappropriate pictures of a 14-year-old minor female on his cell phone. Bryant investigators began working the case diligently and were able to establish an identity of the minor female. After interviews with the victim and gathering necessary evidence, the investigators were able to gain enough information for a warrant of arrest for Hewitt.
Today, the investigators went to the Fairways Apartments where Hewitt resides with his wife and were able to arrest him without incident. Investigators stated that the Apartment Management was very cooperative in assisting the officers today with the arrest.
John Arthur Hewitt is being charged with:
-Rape
-Sexual Assault 4th Degree- 5 counts
-Sexual Indecency w/a Child – 5 counts
-Unauthorized Use of another Person’s Property to Facilitate a Certain Crime – (This charge is because this is a rental property where the crimes took place)
-Endangering the Welfare of a Minor
