Dabbs becomes first woman to serve as Bryant mayor

As the election results rolled in, interesting onlookers kept a close eye on the Bryant mayoral race. Republican Jill Dabbs defeated current Mayor Larry Mitchell and will become Bryant's first female mayor.

Dabbs defeated Mitchell 2,586 to 2,199 with 34 precincts in Saline County reporting by 10:30 p.m.[more]

In other Bryant races, Danny Steele kept his seat on the City Council as Ward 1, Position 2 alderman by defeating Alan Kays 679 to 300.

There will be a run-off for the Ward 2, Position 1 alderman race between Mike Chandler, with 682, and Jim Garland with 581.

Chris Tipton retained his Ward 2, Position 2 seat by defeating Ed Collins 917 to 537 and there will be a run-off for the Ward 3, Position 1 seat held by Adrian Henley, between Henley with 279 and Judy Hogue, who had 435.

Rob Roedel will be the Ward 3, Position 3 alderman by defeating Bobby Johnson 441-390, and Brenda Miller will be the Ward 4, Position 1 alderman by defeating Sam O'Bryant 504-385.

Heather Kizer will be the new Bryant City Clerk. She defeated Brenda Cockerham, the current city clerk, 2,438 to 1,907.
