Ezell tabbed as Gatorade Player of the Year in Arkansas

Gatorade has announced that Bryant Hornets senior shortstop Trevor Ezell has been named the 2013-14 Gatorade Arkansas Baseball Player of the Year, according to Bryant Athletic Director Mike Lee.

The award honors the top player for athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character.  Gatorade partners with USA Today High School Sports in making the selection.”

Ezell led the Hornets to the 2014 Class 7A State championship with a .518 batting average with 6 home runs, 8 triples and 11 doubles among his 43 hits. He scored 50 runs, drove in 43, walked 31 times while only striking out five times. He stole 18 bases.

As a junior, he hit .512 with 10 doubles, 4 triples and 3 homers among his 49 hits. He scored 42 runs and drove in 30 and stole 29 bases.

He also started as a sophomore on the 2012 State championship team, batting .289 with 17 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. His 24 hits included 2 doubles and a triple.

Ezell has signed to continue his athletic and academic career at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., this fall.

    Well-deserved Eze…if only you were 6’2″ …you would be bypassing college…SEMO is getting a heck of a player, great teammate and an even better person!!!
