Bryant’s Haugh, Bock named as head coaches for AHSCA All-Star games

CONWAY – Bryant head baseball coach Kirk Bock and boys soccer head coach Brett Haugh have been named head coaches for the 2014 Arkansas Army National Guard/Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star games in their respective sports.

The Arkansas Activities Association announced the head coaches and coaching staffs for the All-Star Baseball, Softball and Soccer games, which will be held on June 24-27.

UCA associate athletic director Darrell Walsh welcomed the members of the AHSCA, the 2014 All-Star coaches and media representatives during this morning’s press conference.

This marks the 59th anniversary of All-Star competition and the 11th for baseball, softball and soccer.

The All-Star baseball doubleheader will be played at Bear Stadium on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway on Tuesday, June 24, starting at 5 p.m. The All-Star softball doubleheader will be played at Farris Field on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway on Tuesday, June 24, starting at 5 p.m. The All-Star soccer will be played on Wednesday, June 25, at the Bill Stephens Complex on the UCA campus with the girls’ match starting at 6 p.m. and the boys’ match at 8 p.m.

The head coach for the East baseball team will be Joe Allbritton of Mayflower. Bock will head up the West staff.

The head coach of the East boys’ soccer team is Steve Porter of Cabot. Haugh will lead the West team.

Bock’s West baseball staff will consist of Brad Wallace of Vilonia, Brant Matros of Arkadelphia and Zach Hettinga of Danville.

Haugh’s West boys’ soccer staff will consist of Jean Evans of Bergman, Steve Jones of Greenbrier and Bobby Winn, a Bryant High School alumnus, of Benton.

Allbritton’s East baseball staff will consist of Preston Despain of Brookland, Michael Wages of Marked Tree and Charles Brown of Armorel. Porter’s East boys’ soccer staff will consist of Roger Hollis of Paragould, Walter King of Searcy and Barry McCaskill of Little Rock Christian.

In addition, the head coach for the East softball team will be Chata Hickey of Conway and the head coach for the West softball team is Kevin Sullivan of Vilonia.

The head coach of the East girls’ soccer team is Sheffield Duke of Little Rock Central and the coach of the West girls’ soccer team is Neville Matthews of El Dorado.

Hickey’s East softball staff will consist of David Horton of Marion, Rusty Garner of Harding Academy and Steve Richey of Marmaduke. Sullivan’s West softball staff will consist of Blue Kesterson of Ouachita, Kyle Russell of Hector and Ray Hunter of Mena.

Duke’s East girls’ soccer staff will consist of Jessica Beaver of Maumelle, Andrew Post of Greenwood and Michael Riba of Vilonia. Matthew’s West girls’ soccer staff will consist of Kevin Bledsoe of Mena, Karrie Irwin of Hot Springs and Chris Pratt of Harrison.

The 2014 Arkansas High School Coaches Association Coaches Clinic will be held on the UCA campus in Conway, June 25-27.
