Freshman game features two teams off to good starts

(Photo by Rick Nation)There was a time that, at the end of the Central Arkansas Junior High Conference season, there was kind of a unique playoff. The winners of the two divisions, North and South, played a championship game but also every other team played a corresponding team in the other division. In other words, the two second place teams played, the two third place teams played, etc.

But that doesn’t happen anymore. So the games before divisional play opens are often the best barometer of the strengths and weaknesses of the two divisions.

Tonight, there will be one of those meetings when the Bryant Hornets freshman team visits Conway White.[more]

Bryant has opened the season with wins over Searcy, 22-18, and Little Rock Hall, 40-16, while Conway White has defeated Conway Blue, 35-7, and Cabot South, 22-14. It'll be the first road game of the season for the Hornets.

It’s the final tune-up for both teams before they open play in their respective divisions next week.

The evening will start with an eighth grade game between Conway White and Bryant Blue (Bethel) at 5:30. The freshman game will follow around 7 p.m.
