Proposed sign ordinance to be discussed during Mayor’s tour

Mayor Jill Dabbs will be conducting tours of Bryant tomorrow, May 24, starting at 9 a.m. A total of[more] six tours of the city will take place with the purpose of completing a part of the ongoing information-gathering phase regarding the proposed sign ordinance.

On the tours, current signage will be examined throughout the city and there will be discussion on how the new sign ordinance will affect the community.

The regularly scheduled monthly City Council meeting will take place on Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m., with a dinner with the Council and Mayor prior to the meeting. The dinner will begin at 5 at Mia Ranchita and all citizens are encouraged to attend and voice any concerns or ask any questions pertaining to city issues.

At the meeting on Thursday, Harry Butzlaff, a renowned “Hometown Hero” will be recognized for his two Presidential Unit Citations for strategic missions his unit executed during World War II. His children recently discovered these two honors and revealed them to the city.

Police Chief Mark Kizer has recently unveiled his Officer of the Month program where an officer of Bryant will be recognized each month for their outstanding service to the community. Each quarter, the awarded officers will be recognized at a City Council meeting and their names will be placed on a plaque at the police station.
