Relay team for Central Arkansas Swim Club Racers breaks 21-year old record

LITTLE ROCK — The team of Lee Smothers, Joseph Boshears, Jacob Toland and Collin McDiarmid combined on a time of 1:48.03 in the 200 freestyle relay in the 11-12 age group, setting a 21-year old state record at the Arkansas Swimming State short course championships at UALR, Feb. 12-14.

The quartet was competing for the Central Arkansas Swim Club Racers, a team that includes swimmers from 10 to 18 years of age. The Racers finished third overall. The boys team was third, the girls team fourth in their respective competitions.[more]

Toland was named the boys swimmer of the meet for the Racers while Monica Guyett was named the girls swimmer of the meet for the team.

The Racers’ Audrey Guyett was the high-point performer for the 10-and-under girls at the meet winning five of her six events.

According to coach Patrick Bass, 75 percent of the team’s swims resulted in personal best times including nine State champion swims and 29 top three podium swims.

Team members include David Allen, Lindsey Butler, Morgan Bussard, Madi Cougil, Emily Dabbs, Kyle Douglas, Andrew Dull, Taylor Elder, Lexie Epps, Rachel Faulkner, Reagan Faulkner, Ann Floyd, Katie Games, Nolan Games, Austin Gray, Audrey Guyett, Nicole Guyett, Monica Guyett, Jax Hopkins, Janna Jamison, Luke Jamison, Tayler Jones, Tyler Latimer, Hunter Law, Andrew Lorio, Dylan Machycek, Jordan Martain, Alexis McCauley, Mason Nelson, Rebekah Pharr, Morgan Smiatek, Sam Smith, Brooke Smothers, Lee Smothers, Garrett Sullivan, Justin Tazelaar, Jacob Toland and Jordan Woodson.

Along with Bass, the team is coached by Onat Tungac and Farrin Cain.
