Robinson’s big night sparks White past Blue in seventh grade game

Kajuan Robinson poured in 24 points to lead the Bryant White Hornets seventh grade team to a 35-25 win over the Bryant Blue Hornets of Bethel Middle School on Monday, Dec. 16.

Blaise Smith finished with 10 points for Bryant White.

Bryant Blue was led by Randy Thomas’ 10 points. Josh Robinson finished with 5 and Tyler O’Neil 4.

White broke out to a 10-2 lead by the end of the first quarter but Blue countered with a 14-2 run in the second period to take a 16-12 lead at the half. The third quarter belonged to White again as they surged to a 25-20 advantage going into the final period.

“Kajuan had a huge night for us,” said Bryant White coach Heath Long. “I’m glad that he did because we didn’t do a whole lot of scoring otherwise. Blaise also got a ton of rebounds, both offensively and defensively.

“We got off to a pretty good start but then allowed them to play more of an up and down game in the second quarter, which allowed them to make their run,” he continued. “We regrouped at halftime though and took control again at the start of the third quarter.

“I was also very impressed with our half-court man-to-man defense,” Long mentioned. “We look forward to improving and seeing those guys again in January for another great game.”

That will be on Jan. 21. In the meantime, White will play next on Jan. 7 against Lighthouse Charter of Jacksonville while Blue returns to action on Cabot North that same night.
