White Lady Hornets avenge first loss

The Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School absorbed their first loss of the season in the finals of a tournament at Lakewood Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 22, but came back on Monday, Nov. 24, on Cabot North’s own floor to avenge the loss, 20-17.

The Lady Hornets are 4-1 on the season going into a game at Lake Hamilton on Monday, Dec. 1.

In the win over Cabot North, Meagan Chism led with 8 points. Kalia Walker and Allie Dugan added 4 points each with Allison Steen and Faith Stone scoring 2 apiece.

Cabot North led 10-6 at the end of the first quarter then the two teams played a scoreless second period. Bryant continued to stymie the Lady Panthers in the third quarter and surged to a 12-11 lead going into the fourth.

At Saturday, the Lady Hornets surged to an 11-3 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 20-13 edge at the half. Bryant White was clinging to a 26-22 lead going into the fourth quarter before Cabot North rallied for the win.

Steen finished with 10 points and Walker 9 in the contest. Chism had 7 with Dugan and Lexi Helton scoring 2 apiece.
