The last time the Hornets played the Panthers, Scoggins ripped the cords for 20 points. This time, the Panthers focused more defensive attention on him and held him to 10 but the other Hornets picked up the slack, according to head coach Heath Long.

“They did a good job of slowing Jake down and not letting him get as many touches as he did the last time we played,” he acknowledged. “It force us to work the ball more and find the open man which we did a better job of tonight. We are doing a better job of being aggressive offensively, as well.”

Mount added 6 points and Hurt 5 for the Hornets who wrapped up their pre-holiday schedule. They’ll return to action on Jan. 15, 2011 at a jamboree in Malvern.

The Hornets built an 11-6 lead in the first quarter on Tuesday. It was 13-9 at the half and 17-11 going into the fourth quarter. They closed with an 8-1 run to set the final score.Bryant White was led by Jake Scoggins' 10 points. (Photo by Kevin Nagle)
