Roedel joins race for Ward 3, Position 2 on Bryant Council

Rob Roedel has filed as a candidate to serve on the Bryant City Council as the alderman for Ward 3, Position 2.

Roedel and his wife Carrie have been residents of Ward 3 in Bryant since 1996. They have two children, Torrie, a senior at Bryant High School, and Jake, a sixth grader at Bryant Middle School.[more]

"Although my campaign has just launched and I am still learning by talking to my neighbors, areas of concern include maintenance of streets, the need for more sidewalks, preservation of ‘green’ areas in our city and increased efforts in recycling," Roedel said.

Roedel believes he has the right qualifications to become an alderman for the people. He has been employed as the corporate communications manager for the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas and has more than 20 years of business management experience in the marketing and communications field.

A native of Jonesboro, Roedel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Arkansas State University and serves as a board member for the Arkansas Broadcaster's Association and on a number of associations in the electricity and communications arena.

"As the alderman of Ward 3, Position 2, I plan to continue to listen to the residents of the ward and be their voice on the Bryant City Council," Roedel said. "There are many opportunities for growth in Ward 3 and Bryant as a whole. We must continue efforts to preserve the natural beauty of our city while effectively managing its development and growth."

Roedel, a longtime youth athletic coach, serves on the board of the Bryant Athletic Association.

"I feel strongly we must continue to develop resources and pull together as a community to support families and teachers in preparing our young people for asuccessful future," he said.

Roedel, who has served on the Bryant Planning Commission for the past four years, said that there are a number of quality of life issues that Bryant faces including public infrastructure (e.g., roads, parks), public safety and community services (e.g., seniors, affordable housing).

"I have lived in Ward 3 the entire time of my residency in Bryant and understand the challenges that the area faces and want to work with my neighbors," Roedel said. "Community residents know best what issues their particular block or neighborhood faces and I would be honored to represent Ward 3. I love this community and I want to see Bryant continue to grow and prosper. I am running for this office as a means of public service. I have been extensively involved in supporting the youth of Bryant for many years where I learned about the needs of many families in our community.

"My time on the planning commission has enabled me to learn about the various zoning and long-range plans for the growth of Bryant," he added. "I believe this experience coupled together provides me with a keen insight into our community. This is an office that I have considered for some time and I would represent the interests of all the residents of Ward 3 in a professional manner."
